Hello friends! As I bet you can relate, as you find yourself doing chores and running errands, your mind is sometimes weighed down with thoughts of the past, and about life and where it’s really headed. Where you are headed. Though a bit more philosophical and a lot longer than my typical post (sorry!) this was written so that you can find hope and the confidence to stand strong and run your race today.
Love you all! : )
The turning point. The turning point comes when you reach the point in the journey where you realize that you must run with endurance. There is no use in standing still. There is no time to waste. There is not a moment that should be spent looking back at the past and the painful circumstances that lie there. Why waste your life on someone that is so far from the standard by which you live your own life? Why waste the time or mental energies to think about why something happened or someone remains blind. Why spend time worrying about any one person at all? They are only one in a sea of billions. It tells us in the Bible why they are so blind. It is because of their sin that they are blind. God blinds their eyes. There is but a remnant to be saved, so you should not be surprised to see yourself as one of the few among the many who are lost.
You should not be surprised that others use you and abuse you. As Peter tells us, you should not be surprised at the fiery trial you are experiencing. You might not want to experience it, but life many times is not about what we want to experience. Our lives become the culmination of our choices and other’s choices interwoven with God’s hand through it all, being His sovereign self. Many times we find ourselves with circumstances and situations that we never would have asked for. Though obviously we live life in a physical world within our circumstances, from the fiery trial to the simple task of eating breakfast, if we are a Christian living in this world we must recognize that God is in the middle of the circumstances, molding and shaping them to move us towards the true purpose of our life. What has happened to you in life is not the point; the point of life is what you choose to do with what you have learned through what’s happened to you. What kind of person will you be? How will you choose to use the fiery trial for good? Will you open your mouth? Will you choose to be bold or instead allow fear to keep you silent?
Will you open your mouth? Will you choose to be bold or instead allow fear to keep you silent?
We know all too well the stinging pain of betrayal, abandonment or the impact of other’s sin on our lives. We struggle with why bad things happen to good people. But you see, that is where we waste time. That is where we must lay aside the sin that so easily entangles and run with endurance the race that is set before us. Making the choice, choosing that turning point. Life is not watching our favorite Netflix series and hoping to feel better. Yes, there is a time to relax and enjoy life. But life is described in the Bible as a race. It is not a race towards fame and fortune. It is a race to heaven. It is a race to save others. It is a race away from the enemy and the snares and potholes he puts in our way to make us stumble and fall. Where are you racing? Are you racing straight ahead towards the prize, or racing in circles without any progress?

As I write this, I am so tempted to continue asking the question why. I feel like I still need to answer this, even though I know that the answer is not coming down from the sky and all will be made clear. What I do know is this. I need to stand firm on God’s word. I need to stand firm and walk confidently, because I am a child of God. I need to remember that not only should I not be surprised at the fiery trials and struggles I face, but that I should rejoice in my suffering. I should recognize that every step I take, I either take towards my purpose or away from it. I must recognize that as long as I allow myself to choose fear, doubt and insecurity, I will never reach the goal of moving heavenward towards God’s plan for my life.
None of us will ever fully get the answer to the question of why in this life. We just need to come to terms that there is someone in control of this planet and of the things that happen here ultimately and it is not us. God allows both good and evil to exist here, but he allows justice to be seen, both on earth and in the end times. We are not the creator, but simply the created. We should find our place in life and realize that true and lasting joy is found in a close relationship with the Lord, for He is the one that created the God-shaped heart that only He can fill.
Many things in life we feel that we must have, so we scratch, claw, yearn and work our way towards them, then upon getting them we realize those things have become nothing but a source of problems and heartache. Hold onto the only one that will never stop loving you and will remain faithful through it all. Hold onto Jesus, love him and make him your best friend. You will find a truly amazing adventure when you place your hand in his.

So friend, make today your turning point. Turn away from the sin and brokenness of the past, forgive yourself and others that have wronged you, and let it go, allowing it to sail out to sea. Write your feelings down to those that have hurt you, put that paper in a bottle and throw it out into the sea the next time you can. Throw the past pain away, and build a new future today. Start a new life, one of true focus and intention. It’s never too late as long as you’re breathing! Choose to no longer be lazy and complacent. Choose instead to run towards the race before you. Life is so short. Don’t waste a second of God’s goodness he has in store for you.
